Letter received from Helmand A Lieutenant in the Royal Engineers writes he is part of a team of four, which moves around Helmand as required. The team are bomb disposal experts. He thanks us for our box and says "Please do not underestimate how much these parcels mean to us all and the morale that they bring. . . . . Thank you again for your kindness - it does not go unnoticed."
Letter received from Helmand A captain in 2 Yorks says "I would like to thank you for the generous gifts that you have sent. They have been greatly appreciated by everyone who has received something from your parcel. . . . You should be extremely proud of the soldiers you are supporting. Their constant courage and determination despite an average age of only 20 years old is genuinely inspiring. Despite the difficult and often dangerous conditions they live in their morale is extremely high; this is helped by the regular parcels from home. Your generosity and support enhances our morale in many ways. Knowing that people like you and your family are thinking of and actively supporting us out here is appreciated by all ranks and really appreciated."
Letter received from Helmand Another captain in 2 Yorks, writing just before Christmas, thanks us for our gifts and says "Morale is pretty good and we look forward to celebrating Xmas with as much style as possible. Your gifts were a huge morale boost for everyone. I cannot thank you enough."
Letter received from Helmand We have received a telegram from Captain Paul Harsmworth of A company 2 Rifles. He says: "Thank you very much for the parcels. They are most gratefully received. The parcels have been shared out amongst the soldiers. The temperature here is still in the forties during the day and low thirties at night. We've not had any rain since May. I'm sure we will get a shock when we return to UK and enjoy the traditional British weather. We are looking forward to going home soon and seeing our friends and families."
Letter received from Helmand [Major] Rupert Follett, Officer Commanding C Company, 2 Rifles- Thank you so much for the parcel you sent which arrived by helicopter this morning. I cannot begin to tell you the difference to morale after we have received mail.
We have had a tough time of it, with another 2 soldiers killed and 3 wounded last week. Knowing that good people such as yourselves are supporting us and praying for us makes the daily dangers we face that bit more bearable.
We have another 7 weeks left of our tour, and then, God willing, we will be able to return to our families who have had to suffer the separation and uncertainty for about 7 months. Thank you again. I can assure you that you are making a real difference.
Letter received from Helmand Padre JC Duncan - who wants me to convey his sincere thanks to Christchurch for the "goodies". They have been sent to soldiers in the forward operating bases "where life is rather Spartan and basic. There isn't a Tesco round the corner! I know from visiting and speaking to our soldiers in the FOBS how much they appreciate the goodies sent to them.

Again thank you for supporting our solders. It is good to know the folks back home are remembering all of us who are serving here"
