Lord God, we come to you in prayer in this most unusual situation.
We pray our world, for our nation, and for our community.
Lord we pray especially now for all those who are living in isolation. May they know your presence in the isolation, your peace in the turmoil, and your patience in the waiting. Prince of Peace, you are powerful and merciful.
Lord we pray for all those who are sick – not just those suffering with the corona virus itself but all who are unwell. Bring to them your comfort, strength, healing and wholeness of body, mind and spirit.
Lord we thank you for our NHS. We pray for all medical professionals dealing daily with the intense pressures of this crisis. Grant them resilience in weariness, discernment in diagnosis, and compassion upon compassion in their care. We thank you for the army of researchers working steadily and quietly towards a cure…give them clarity and breakthrough.
God of wisdom, we pray for our leaders, and for all those who have responsibility for difficult decisions…the World Health Organisation, governments, leaders of hospitals and schools, and for the shops, supermarkets and supply chains…grant them wisdom beyond their own human wisdom.
Lord, on this mothering Sunday, thank you that as a mother loves her child, so you love each and every one of us. You brought us to birth and you sustain us in life. We pray for mothers across the world and for all who bring care, love and support to children and families. Thank you for the world wide church family of which we are a part. In this difficult time, help us to be a people through whom you shine the light of your love, hope and peace. May we be ready to reach out and serve those around us.
In the name of Jesus we pray.
