What a lovely way to spend a day! There were about 110 ladies at Christchurch for our annual Women’s Day.

This year’s Speaker was Michelle Leaske who spoke inspiringly on our chosen Bible Verse, 1 Peter 5:7 (NIT) “Give all your worries and cares to God for he cares about you”.  Many ladies have said that she resonated with them.

Our Men’s Team looked after us efficiently and cheerfully, helping to serve drinks and the tasty cakes made by our generous bakers.  The Worship Team led us in some periods of uplifting singing, ably assisted by our Tech Team.

We also enjoyed a gentle Communion and periods of prayer. This year the charity we had decided to support was Wellspring.  We learned how this counselling service is an invaluable support to those in our community facing such problems as stress, anxiety and depression.  It provides a  free Young People Service for counselling and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for young people aged 11 to 18.  All is underpinned by a strong Christian ethos.  Users of the services pay according to their means so the charity relies on ongoing fundraising and donations to be able to continue.

We took up a collection for them and raised an amazing £509.44. We are very pleased to have supported Wellspring in its vital ongoing work and we have all been thanked by the charity for our generous donation. We wish them every success in the future.

Thank you all for your support on the day. Our next event will be an Afternoon Tea, probably in June.
